Ravelympics…the Finish Line

With the extinquishing of the Olympic Torch this coming Sunday so too do the Ravelympics come to a close.   Whew! Boy Howdy!   That was a lot of knittin' I'll tell you!

During the Olympic Opening Ceremonies I SKYPEed in to Kalamazoo, Michigan where the rest of  Team Zombie Slayers were assembled at our KWAKtians lovely home for the mass Cast-On party.  Wish I could have been there in person!  What a gas!   I cast on my Very First Ever KNITTED Scarf for the Super - G event on February 12 just after the Olympic Torch was lit.  I must say I really didn't think I'd even complete this scarf before the Feb 28th torch extinquishing.  But it took me only a little over 24 hours to knit.  I was astonished!

I even got a Medal!  ( Don't get excited. Everybody gets a medal.)4353989463_c65d98c355_o

That "Award Winning" first of it's kind scarf went to this this Lovely Lady and Talented Writer in what I think was my first ever contest.   I say "I think" because I have Swiss cheese for brains and I'm too lazy to look back through my own blog to double check:)

Even after completing that First Ever Knitted Scarf I was still not confident in my knitting abilities.  So I decided to switch back to Crochet for my next project; a requested scarf for another Blog Friend. When I saw this Twisted Sister Sock Yarn I knew it would be perfect for her.

I had never worked with Sock Yarn before and it was a real treat!  It's a wonderful feel and has a bit of stretch to it.   I love the long color changes too.  This one took less than 3 days to complete.  It's amazing what you can do with a deadline.

So since I still had 11 days before the Closing Ceremonies I thought WTH?  I'll try another Knitted scarf.  This one I had seen n our now closed :( LYS, Yes Yarn.  It's plain Garter Stitch on size 17 needles with a Gossamer yarn.

It's very light & airy and open.  I love it!

I'm keeping this baby!

Huh.  Still 4 more days until the dead line.  What to do?  what to do?  Well seeing as I haven't totally screwed up any of these projects why not KNIT ANOTHER SCARF?

So with the recent Knitting success I decided to knit another Super Chunky scarf.   Less than 12 hours later...

Scarf Number 4.   I have yet to block it, my shoulders are cramped and my fingers hurt and I still have 2 days left before they put out the flame in Canada.  I think I will take a break, relax and actually WATCH the Olympics:)

    Those are all beautiful!!

By the way, I got my scarf yesterday and it’s even more beautiful in person! I’m going to have to lock it away so my daughter doesn’t steal it. :).

Thank you again! I love it!

  • Linda, Your knitted scarves are wonderful – very proud of you :-)

  • It’s raining here today and that makes me want to wrap myself in every single scarf you show here. So pretty!

  • Thank u for the shout out sweetie – and I absolutely adore that scarf!!! I promised you a picture but having camera & computer issues at the moment (as you already know from FB) so hang on and I’ll get a pic to you soon. You are such a peach – and what a talented knitter you have become – if I could just get the hang of casting on — but I’m all thumbs you know. Hugs!
