Finally. ELPH has been threatening to bring me here since the first business trip he made ten years ago. I can’t believe we are here!
Day one:
It’s grainy and there is a UFO in the upper left corner but it was stunning! My real camera was in my carry-on under the seat and there was no way I could get at it.
It’s been drizzling on and off all day with temps in the 50’s. And I don’t care! I’m in SCOTLAND! LOL! I had my priorities straight and headed to K1 Yarn Boutique straight away. Alas the were not open yet, so ELPH took me on a tour of Edinburgh Castle. What an amazing setting.

St. Margaret’s Chapel is the oldest part of the castle built by King David I (1124-53) and dedicated to his mother who died here in 1093. She was created a saint in 1251. 1093!?!! 1251!?!! That’s really really old!

This was the Castles Main Banqueting Chamber in the 16th Century. It was converted into barracks by Cromwell in 1650 and restored to its present state in 1891. RESTORED in 1891!! (That just kills me! LOL!) Only the great roof is medieval, the wall panelling, stained glass windows and fireplace are all Victorian. (But still really, really old.)

When is the last time you saw an actual working phone booth? They are everywhere here.
Another view from the Castle. I have no idea what these buildings are but I’ll be sure to find out before I leave.

Our hotel from the Castle.
The Hotel has free Wi-Fi in the lobby so I’ll be here same time same place tomorrow with more exciting photos from Scotland! See you then.
Love the pictures!!! Cant wait to see more. I am so happy for you to be there with Jeff. What an amazing trip! See it all and enjoy every minute.

ooooh, beautiful! I showed Grumpy the photos because he loved his visits to Scotland. He muttered that the weather is never nice so…I hope he is wrong and you have beautiful weather for your trip. Looking forward to more posts from your trip.

A magical place. I’ll look forward to more posts of your sightseeing. I’m sure you’ll have photos of the piles of yarn you found, too :) You both look great in the photo at the castle.
