Took a Fiber Festival Trip to the Maryland Sheep & Wool this Spring with my baby sister and niece. I’d never been to MDS&W and this was Salley & J’s first Fiber Fest ever. FIber Fest Virgins!! LOL!
It was a beautiful day and I especially enjoyed having Salley & J with me. So many fiber animals! Every kind of sheep you can imagine! And the dogs! The Border Collies (and Handlers) were simply unbelievable. This woman talked all through her demonstration and simultaneously gave the dogs (Yes, multiple dogs!) commands.
I could barely recognize the difference in her voice but these dogs did exactly as she said instantly. I can not imagine the time that goes into training these dogs. Hell, I’ve had my Mutt 7 years and she still doesn’t have a reliable Come! (And that is all my fault and I know it.)
So many pretty colors and fibers what to choose? Do I even need more yarn? Well no but so many Pretties!!!
In other fiber-y news…drum roll please… I completed my Damn Brown Sweater!
The pattern is really called Brigitta. It’s my first knitted adult sweater, started in August 2011. Yes, two years ago. It made me mad and had to be put in Time-Out several times. Is it perfect? No. Is it wearable? Totally. Did I learn anything from the experience? Yes….Swatch, swatch, swatch, it helps if you want the item to actually fit when your are done :) The weather is supposed to be cool this weekend and I plan to wear it to SAFF (Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair, October 26, in Fletcher, NC).
Will I make this pattern again? Definitely. I’m thinking Red :D What do you think?
