On a family trip to Chatsworth farmyard and playground my little boy was very excited to meet the adorable guinea pigs in the Guinea Pig Village. He got to gently stroke a guinea pig sitting on his lap and couldn't stop talking about it afterwards. So of course I wanted to make him a guinea pig to play with at home!
I found this fantastic pattern for a realistic-looking guinea pig called Cake by Son’s Popkes. The pattern was easy to follow and the guinea pig is incredibly cute.
I used Stylecraft special DK yarn in Cream and Camel. I decided not to brush the guinea pig to make him fluffy like in the pattern, as although this technique would definitely add to the cuteness, I thought the piggy would be more robust in the hands of an excited small boy if I left him unbrushed!
